Arguably one of the most notable faces in Hollywood is Mickey Rourke. The actor has starred in many leading roles in drama, thriller, and action films from the early 1980s until the mid-2000s. Rourke received high acclaim with his works in Charles Bukowski’s biopic Barfly and the horror mystery Angel Heart. Years into his successful career, he momentarily quit show business to pursue his other aspiration—boxing. In 1991, he began to participate in the sport as a professional boxer, which continued for a number of years.

Eventually, he retired in 1994 and returned to his career as an actor. Upon his return, he started to work in several movies with supporting roles, including the action-thriller neo-noir movie Sin City, drama film The Rainmaker, comedy-drama Buffalo ’66, and many more. Since then, Rourke has made numerous movies and won several awards. Credit to his successful and long career, the actor is still active in doing movies up to the present.
