BARBARA EDEN | 90 years old
Barbara Eden, born Barbara Jean Morehead on August 23, 1931, is an American actress and singer best remembered for her role as Jeannie in the American fantasy comedy I Dream of Jeannie, which aired from 1965 to 1970. Eden’s first public appearance was in the church choir, where she performed solos. She used to sing in local bands for $10 a night at nightclubs, which would be roughly $130 in 2017.
The future I Dream of Jeannie star began her career in television, often appearing on The Johnny Carson Show in 1955. When she starred in a play with James Drury, she was discovered by the director Mark Robson, who subsequently directed her in the film From the Terrace, had attended the play and was interested in signing her to 20th Century Fox studios. This would later culminate in the actress’s continued success, leading up to the launch of 1965’s I Dream of Jeannie.
