Christina Applegate | Elle Woods – Legally Blonde
Before you say that Reese Witherspoon gave justice to the role, which she definitely did, why not imagine Christina Applegate portraying Elle Woods first? Okay, stop, I know it’s difficult. After her hit show Married… With Children, Christina revealed that she was given the script of the Legally Blonde, but she mentioned that she got scared because the character was kinda similar to what she just did. During her interview with Entertainment Tonight, she expressed quite the regret of not portraying the aspiring blonde lawyer. She even mentioned, “What a stupid move that was, right?”
Anyway, Legally Blonde was a huge hit, thanks to Reese. After its release on July 13, 2001, the movie garnered a worldwide box-office amounting to almost $142 million, against its $18 million production budget. A sequel was then released in 2003, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde, which also scored a nine-digit gross. In 2022, Witherspoon is set to reprise her role for the second sequel.
