Pete Rose

For those who are unfamiliar with the name, Pete Rose is a former professional baseball player and manager. He played in Major League Baseball from 1963 to 1986 while also managing the Cincinnati Reds from 1984 to 1989. Rose has a reputation for fixing games and betting. He denied the betting and gambling though initial investigations done by the Commissioner of Baseball showed he was heavily gambling.

His attorney even filed a lawsuit against the Commissioner, alleging that the latter had pre-judged the case. However, the Dowd Report noted that there was no evidence that Rose was betting against the Reds while also managing them. The two parties eventually settled the matter by Rose accepting permanent disqualification. Others have also depicted him as someone who puts himself first, which is acceptable to a certain extent, but he was on an unhealthy level, according to sources.
